SMR-UK has recently enriched its activity with the a new department:
Art and Culture.
We believe that the general public`s perception about Romania in the UK is misleading and very little is known about our cultural and artistical heritage. Giving the opportunity to Romanian doctors that love art to show their work and express themselves freely in a British cultural setting has been sought. In addition there was the utter need of promoting the Romanian culture and true values within the medical professionals and British public.
Our future plans are as follows:
1. Beginning a series of Art Galleries that would comprise Romanian artists, medical, non-medical , British medical professionals
2. Organization of art workshops or tutorials for doctors/ delegates. These will be promoted through our network, website www.smruk.org and mailing list
3. Liaising with art associations to gain professional experience and expertise in the art field and to develop future exhibitions and/or thematic creativity.
4. Promoting the project to Romania so that the best doctor artists should have the opportunity to exhibit within our Gallery. The cultural event would therefore be extended not only to a regional but an international level.
All these being said we invite you to watch and be curious, to expand your cultural boundaries and to take part to our project.

Wow! I can`t wait to see the exhibition. It`d be fantastic to see what Romanian doctors have to show as one of my best friend is Romanian and she`s very good with arts.

I`ve always known that medicine and art are so strongly related but never heard of an event to put this together. Hope you will advertise any event as I`d like to see and support you guys.

Way to go VLAD! I can`t believe you`ve actually done what you`ve always had on your mind. You know we`ve been to all your exhibitions in Cluj and the dean was proud that you came up with this ideea. From that to this I guess it was a huge step. Now you`re trying to improve Romanian image of doctors overseas. That`s really nice man!

Ca si medic si pasionat de arta as fi dorit si eu sa particip la o astfel de manifestare. Din pacate in Banat nu am gasit o astfel de initiativa, iar medicii trebuie sa mearga pe la asociatiile de artisti plastici si chiar si asa e mare sansa sa ajungi sa ai un tablou intr-o expozitie colectiva. Toti sunt absolventi de arte sau artisti care abia asteapta sa expuna. Ne rezumam doar la expozitii prin spitale cand se poate. Daca se poate la urmatoarele editii as dori si eu sa stiu detalii.
Succes si sper sa va imbogatiti expozitia si cu artisti medici din Romania chiar daca ei practica medicina acasa si nu prin vest.
Buna Vlad! Vad ca ce ai facut in Cluj duci si pe afara si mi se pare foaret tare. Am aflat de la dr.Rusu de siteul asta. Stii ca am participat si eu cu tablouri cand te-ai ocupat de expozitii. Chiar ma bucur ca ai dus lucrurile mai departe si poate o sa isi faca si Romania o imagine adevarat valoroasa ca de tigani toti suntem satuli.
Ce vreau sa te intreb e daca participa doar medici romani din Anglia sau si medici romani din Romania ? Doar prin asociatia de artisti plastici medici afiliata la UAP desi mai nou nu cred ca mai exista (sau nu stiu eu) puteai expune. Stii ca la Medicala V era expozitia anuala din spital care se tot tine de vreo 30 de ani.
Bravo si pune pe site ce tablouri ai mai facut (daca ai mai facut ceva) si poze daca chiar faci expozitia asta de care zici. Si eu am ganduri mari sa plec definitiv in Franta. Hai ca ne-auzim si bafta!

Regarding the matter of romanian doctors showing their works in London within our Gallery teh answer is YES. Of course, this is the ideea of promoting true values and Romania.
The only thing is that only with the next editions the romanian doctors based in Romania would be able to exhibit their works over here as there is a whole procedure to get the paitings in the UK. IF you can handle this task in the next 40 days then it is fine and you can see your works in the Gallery. In adition I will write a short tutorial for Romanian doctors how to move freely their paintings within EEA Area as in many cases could be a real hassle.
I hope that real Romanian values could be highlighted and I know that doctors beside loving arts are good artists as well.
I hope that next editions will mix both cultures and have the appeal we all have longed for.

I wonder why our hospital hasn`t got such initiative. I`m doing photography and would love to show(off) my photos in an exposition. Do you guys take only Romanian doctors as members or it`s an open source for all doctors?
